Message from the Director

The Research Center for Nex-Generation Health Technology was established in April 2023 as a research organization within the Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences (IMS) of Yokohama National University. The IMS is a “vision-driven” organization that promotes cross-disciplinary research toward the realization of Yokohama National University’s vision of a better future, and was established as Yokohama National University’s second institute of advanced research, following the existing “technology-driven” Institute of Advanced Science (IAS). The Research Center for Nex-Generation Health Technology was established within IMS to address a wide range of societal issues.

The Center aims to bring together the University’s seeds of health technology in general, including health, medicine, and welfare, and to serve as a hub connecting industry, academia, public, and medical institutions in the prefecture, and to promote world-leading interdisciplinary research in these fields. The Institute will research and develop innovative technologies related to health, medicine, and welfare, and implement the integrated knowledge obtained from such interdisciplinary research in the local community. Our vision is to create an area of innovation where people can enjoy health and happiness, and to build a new eco-system by making Calm Technology permeate into the daily lives of citizens.
